FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Short answers to the questions patients ask most often.
What is the CLaCS method?
CLaCS (Cryo-Laser and Cryo-Sclerotherapy) is a modern minimally invasive method of treating varicose veins that combines laser therapy and sclerotherapy with the simultaneous use of cold (cryotherapy). This innovative technology effectively removes venous problems while ensuring minimal pain during the procedure, quick recovery, and an excellent aesthetic result.
Is any special preparation needed before the procedure?
No. We recommend coming in comfortable clothing and bringing compression stockings, or you can purchase compression stockings directly from us. For selected types of procedures, you may receive them from us for free. Don’t forget to inform the doctor about all medications or supplements you are taking.
What should I expect after the procedure?
After the procedure we recommend a short walk right away, wearing compression stockings according to your doctor’s advice, and avoiding hot baths, the sun, sauna, and solarium for at least 2 to 4 weeks. Follow-up is scheduled after 1 week, or after 3 months depending on the procedure type.
Is there a risk that varicose veins will return?
Modern methods have a high success rate, but recurrence is possible. Proper technique and adherence to the doctor’s recommendations and a healthy lifestyle are important.
Is varicose vein surgery painful?
It is minimally painful. In our vascular surgery clinic we perform minimally invasive varicose vein removal procedures on an outpatient basis, most often under local anaesthesia. If the patient wishes, the procedure can also be performed under general anaesthesia. The advantages of these modern methods include minimal to moderate pain depending on the patient’s sensitivity, short recovery, quick return to normal life, and the ability to walk immediately after the procedure.
Can I have the procedure if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
Varicose vein removal procedures are not recommended during pregnancy. During breastfeeding, some methods can be performed, but suitability is determined by the doctor based on the initial vascular examination.
How do I know if I have varicose veins that need treatment?
Varicose veins (varices) are dilated and deformed superficial veins that arise due to dysfunction of the venous valves. Normally these valves ensure that blood flows toward the heart and prevent it from flowing backward. When they stop working properly, blood begins to pool in the lower limbs, leading to gradual dilation of the veins and varicose vein formation.
Untreated varicose veins can lead to serious complications such as chronic venous insufficiency, leg swelling, a feeling of heaviness and pain, skin changes, leg ulcers, night cramps, or thrombosis and superficial vein inflammation. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment can significantly reduce the risk of complications and improve the patient’s quality of life.
What examination do I need before varicose vein surgery?
Before a planned varicose vein surgery, every patient in our vascular surgery clinic undergoes an initial vascular examination with Doppler ultrasound. The examination lasts approximately 30 minutes and allows the doctor to evaluate the condition of the superficial and deep venous system in detail. Based on this examination, the vascular surgeon makes an accurate diagnosis and recommends the most appropriate treatment method or procedure. For the initial vascular examination, you need to bring a referral slip from your general practitioner or a specialist doctor.
How long does varicose vein surgery take?
The duration of the procedure varies depending on the extent of the vein condition and the chosen treatment method. In most cases it takes 30 to 90 minutes.
Do I need to be hospitalized after the procedure?
No. We perform varicose vein removal in our vascular surgery clinic within one-day medical care on an outpatient basis without the need for hospitalization. After the procedure, the patient goes home and can return to normal activities in a short time.
How quickly can I return to normal activities?
Most patients can return to everyday activities already the next day after the procedure. However, we recommend postponing intensive sports activities and long-term standing for about 1 to 2 weeks to ensure optimal healing.
Can I have the procedure even in summer?
Yes. Thanks to modern minimally invasive methods of varicose vein removal (EVLA, TEVLA, CLaCS, RFA), the procedure can be performed safely and effectively throughout the entire year, including the summer months.
How can I pay for the procedure?
In our vascular surgery clinic, you can pay for the procedure in cash, by payment card, via a QR code, or in installments in cooperation with Zinc Euro, a.s.
