Treatment details
Laser Haemorrhoid Surgery – LHP Method
Laser haemorrhoid surgery – the LHP Method is a modern minimally invasive treatment for internal haemorrhoids with an emphasis on gentleness, patient comfort and fast recovery.
Procedure overview
Laser Haemorrhoidoplasty (LHP) is a modern minimally invasive procedure that uses laser energy to treat haemorrhoidal tissue from within.
LHP is used mainly for internal haemorrhoids when a more extensive finding, recurrent bleeding or a more advanced stage of haemorrhoidal disease needs to be treated.
For less extensive findings, the doctor may recommend Barron’s rubber band ligation instead. The most appropriate treatment method is determined individually after examination.

Modern laser treatment for haemorrhoids
- Laser haemorrhoid surgery – the LHP Method (Laser Hemorrhoidoplasty) is a modern minimally invasive procedure that uses laser energy to close the feeding vessels of haemorrhoidal nodes.
- We perform the procedure under local anaesthesia, and it is suitable for grade II to IV haemorrhoids, including advanced cases and recurrent or bleeding haemorrhoids.
- The method is highly gentle – it protects the healthy mucosa and sphincters, thereby minimising the risk of incontinence.

How the procedure works
LHP is performed as a same-day procedure under general anaesthesia. After admission, you will undergo a personal anaesthesiology assessment before the procedure. Following the operation, you will remain under medical supervision and, provided your condition is stable, you can return home the same day accompanied by an adult.
Before and after the procedure
Before undergoing LHP, you will need an initial examination, a pre-operative assessment and an anaesthesiology review. After the procedure, follow your doctor’s individual recommendations to support safe recovery and the best possible treatment outcome.
Before the procedure
- The first step is an initial examination and personal consultation with a doctor, who will determine whether LHP is suitable for you.
- A referral from a general practitioner or specialist is required for an examination covered by public health insurance; in this case, the patient only pays the applicable service fee. The examination can also be completed without a referral as a self-paying patient according to the current price list.
- If LHP is recommended, you will receive a medical report containing the information required for your pre-operative assessment.
- You will undergo the pre-operative assessment with your general practitioner or, if necessary, an internal medicine specialist.
- The results are subsequently reviewed by an anaesthesiologist before the planned procedure.
On the day of the procedure
- Please arrive according to the instructions provided by our clinic and the anaesthesiologist.
- Before general anaesthesia, the anaesthesiologist will personally assess your current health condition.
- The surgeon and anaesthesiologist will explain the procedure and answer any questions you may have.
- Informed consent forms are signed only after personal counselling.
- The LHP procedure is then performed under general anaesthesia.
- After the procedure, you will remain under medical supervision until your condition is stable.
After the procedure
- After LHP, you will remain under medical supervision until your condition is stable.
- If your recovery is uncomplicated, you can return home on the same day.
- Because the procedure is performed under general anaesthesia, you must arrange an adult escort, transport home and the presence of an adult for the first 24 hours.
- Before discharge, you will receive individual post-operative instructions regarding medication, hygiene, bowel movements, physical activity and follow-up.
- Mild pressure, discomfort or minor bleeding, especially after a bowel movement, may occur during the first days after the procedure.
Recovery
- Before discharge, you will receive individual post-operative instructions and should follow your doctor’s recommendations carefully.
- Mild pressure, discomfort or minor bleeding, particularly after a bowel movement, may occur after the procedure.
- If necessary, your doctor may recommend standard pain medication according to your individual needs.
- Most patients can gradually return to normal daily activities within a few days; strenuous physical activity should generally be avoided for approximately one week.
- Following general anaesthesia, you may experience fatigue or reduced performance for several days.
