VenaSeal

VenaSeal - detail zákroku
  • It is a modern and minimally invasive method of treating varicose veins in which a special biological adhesive is used to close the damaged veins. The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia.
  • This technique is an alternative to traditional methods such as radiofrequency ablation (RFA) or laser treatment.
  • The VenaSeal system treatment is designed for patients with a wide range of difficulties.

The course of the procedure

  • Under ultrasound guidance, the doctor inserts a thin catheter into the affected vein through a small puncture in the skin.
  • Through the catheter, a small amount of special glue is injected into the vein to close the vein.
  • The closed vein no longer carries blood and is gradually absorbed naturally by the body, with the blood being redirected into healthy veins.
  • After the glue is applied, the catheter is removed and a small adhesive cover is applied to the puncture site.
  • Unlike radiofrequency ablation or laser methods, there is no need to use heat here. The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia.

Before the intervention

  • Preparing the patient for the VenaSeal procedure is simple and does not require any difficult restrictions. It is important to follow the doctor’s instructions. The patient will first be examined by a vascular specialist, who will assess the condition of their veins and the suitability of the VenaSeal procedure.
  • The doctor may advise the patient not to take certain medications for a period of time before the procedure. The patient should inform the physician of any medications he or she is taking and his or her general health, including allergies.
  • It is advisable to wear comfortable clothing for the procedure. Wash your feet and the skin where the procedure will be performed thoroughly. Do not apply creams or oils to the skin.

After the procedure

  • After the procedure, avoid heavy lifting and vigorous physical activity for at least a few days, as recommended by your doctor.
  • It is usually not necessary to wear compression stockings after the VenaSeal procedure, but it is always a good idea to check with your doctor to see if compression stockings are needed in your particular case.
  • You can immediately return to normal daily activities such as walking and light work. However, limit long periods of standing or sitting in the first few days after the procedure.
  • We recommend avoiding hot baths, saunas, and direct sun exposure for several days after the procedure.
  • The doctor may give specific instructions based on the patient’s individual medical condition. It is important to follow these instructions. Following these instructions helps ensure a successful outcome of the procedure and minimize the risk of complications.
